IP Mentoring Program Overview:
We are happy to share with you the recent launch of the IPLS Mentoring Program. The goal of the Mentoring Program is to aid in the professional and academic development of law students interested in pursuing a career in IP law. Our mission is to formally connect law students with IP attorneys who will serve as committed volunteers as they help provide guidance and growth for their decisions during school and after. Additionally we hope the program helps to enhance and foster the professional growth of both mentors and mentees. Mentors will serve as committed volunteers as they help provide guidance for their mentees during the academic year.
At the launch of the Mentoring Program we successfully paired thirteen IP students with mentors from: CBS; Budd Larner; Gertner Mandel & Peslak, LLC; Goldstein Patent Law; Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper, & Scinto; Hit Entertainment; Lippincott Burnett LLP; Lowenstein Sandler LLP; Patterson Sheridan LLP; Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C.; Sidley Austin; Stephens & Baugh, LLC; Viacom.
IP Mentoring Dinner:
Mentors and mentees were brought together at the IP Mentoring Reception on February 26th held at Don Pepe’s Restaurant. The purpose of the reception was to bring both mentors and mentees together as we honor the commitment of all involved. With the help of the IPLS Executive Board, we had a great turnout. The evening commenced with a welcome from current IPLS President, Rinat Shangeeta, and IPLS Mentoring & Alumni Chair, Heather Baker, who discussed the program background and guidelines. As we dined, mentors were presented with a certificate of appreciation, followed by an encouraging and heartfelt speech by professor John R. Kettle III, IPLS Faculty Chair and Director of the IP Law Clinic. We received much positive feedback from both mentors and mentees and are happy to say that we have successfully launched one of our biggest initiatives!
We encourage all interested, to apply for next year’s IPLS Mentoring Program.
